    With regards to the setting of author archives, If you’re running a one author blog, the author archive will be exactly the same as your homepage. This is what’s called a duplicate content problem. If this is the case on your site, you can choose to either disable it (which makes it redirect to the homepage), or to add “noindex,follow” to it so it doesn’t show up in the search results. The 301 redirect from the author archive to the homepage is there in order to avoid duplicate content.

    If you’ve set your tags to ‘noindex’ and to not show up in the search results, it’s fine to set the Yoast SEO meta box to hidden. That option is just regarding the view of the Yoast SEO meta box in the back end when you’re editing a particular content type or taxonomy.
