    Hi.
I use stripe as a gateway for credit card payments and the woocommerce standard paypal extension for payments via paypal.

Unfortunately I have a IPN PDT issue (although IPN is disabled) where customers receive two ‘order confirmed’ emails. Woocommerce support can’t help. Paypal support says the issue has something to do with the paypal-woocommerce integration.

Long story… I want to check out Braintree!
    1) (As a Non-US Merchant / Germany) Can I use Braintree to manage Paypal payments only? Are there compatibitly issues when I use Paypal via Braintree and credit card payments via stripe?

Maybe I switch to Braintree for all payment gateways later.

My first concern: Getting rid of this paypal-woocommerce IPN PDT issue.

    2) Can you give me a link to the Braintree paypal fees?

Thanks for helping out in advance!

    Hi @mappel,

Yes, you can use Braintree to manage PayPal payments only. Our plugin comes with a PayPal specific gateway so you can enable it and leave all the other gateways (like credit cards for Braintree) disabled. You should not encounter any compatibility issues using this plugin for PayPal and whatever Stripe plugin you are using. Speaking of which, you might want to check out our Stripe plugin.

Regarding your double email issue, is it the same email being sent twice or is it two different emails that convey the same information? Identifying that is probably key in resolving your duplicate email issue.

    Here’s a link to Braintree’s standard fees:

Thanks for getting back to me.

I don’t exactly see the difference between the two cases you made.
The two emails contain exactly the same information and are sent twice (as I can see) at the same time. The customer gets two ‘Order complete’ emails and I get two ‘new order’ emails.

If you would have any clue why this is and why you made the two different(?) cases… I would love to hear your thoughts on this… because for me and customers who pay with paypal, it’s super annoying and it reflects badly on my shop because there is a duplicate email that doesn’t make sense ??

    All the best!

Not knowing which PayPal and Stripe plugins you have enabled and not being the developer of either of those, I don’t want to make assumptions. It’s possible you have a 3rd party plugin that is hooking into the order complete action and causing issues.

Typically gateway plugins don’t have much interaction with email functionality beyond updating order status which triggers emails in WooCommerce. If it were my shop, I would try to replicate the issue on a staging site and start disabling plugins one by one until the duplicate email stopped, then I would know where the duplicate was coming from.

    Kind Regards,
