Database: Checking basic config reading/writing failed

For a while now, Wordfence started acting wonky (Scans failing, Rules update failing lately). I headed over to WF’s diagnostics page and saw this:

Wordfence Config Ability to save Wordfence settings to the database.
Checking basic config reading/writing X Basic config writing

Checking basic config reading/writing is the only error shown in the diagnostics panel.

I have tried the following things:

Check MySQL database version and privileges – Everything checks out

Repair the wp_wfconfig table through [REPAIR TABLE wp_wfconfig;] – No change

Any ideas on what might be the cause of this error and how I could fix it?
