Show one post per year

I’m not sure I understand. Is there a link to a page where I could see the issue you’re having?

I don’t really have a public link I can share but I’ll explain a bit better.

I have the widget set to show 10 items which it shows in order of post date. Our site has about 20 posts a day which means that we only get to see posts from 2019 because when it runs out before we even see the years before.

I edited the sort order in the plugin code to random which gives me more of an assortment of years. It would be really cool though if the widget was one post per year:

On this day
In 2019
2018
2017
Etc

Ah, yeah… it’s not really suited at this point to a site that has that many daily posts. I think I could add an option to limit the number of posts per year, randomizing which one gets shown. (And then you can use the “Show On This Day archive link” option to link to a page that would have the full list of all of the posts.)

I don’t think this would be too difficult to add. I’m making a note to include it in the next update.
