Updating Plugins/Themes please stop the spam

  • Hi,

    First off I want to say thanks to everyone who works on building WordPress into the amazing platform it is today. I’ve even come to love Gutenburg.

    WordPress Admin Notification spam

    Please can plugin/theme developers stop with the spam notifications on the top part of the WP admin screen? I have 20 WordPress live client websites and I perform all updates to plugins and themes on a daily basis, there are so many of these spam messages these days that I cannot see the top half of the screen and I need to scroll. I counted 6 this morning and that means I have to click away 120 (6 x 20) times and that is on top of the clicks for updating themes and plugins.

    The other thing I don’t like is page takeover after plugin update this is where WPeMatico for instance takes over the page and forces WP to display its update message.

    My preference although there may be other solutions is for a separate notifications tab where all such notifications can be shown there, also it would be great if there was available a click to remove all messages in one go instead of having to click each one separately.

    Finally, notifications asking for a rating are fine but in many cases, these show up again, and again, when I click I’ve already rated your plugin I never expect to see that message again.

    This is a blog post. This is not a support topic. You’re blog post is about notification that you feel are over done. That’s fine and may make an interesting blog post on your site. You may even get a conversation going there.

    These are support forums and not anyone’s blog. If you have a specific plugin or theme that you feel you need support for then please raise that topic in that plugin or theme’s support forum.
