I am trying to link my blog to Twitter using the Jetpack Publicize feature. However, whenever I try to post or schedule a blog I receive the following error:

Before you hit Publish, please refresh the following connection(s) to make sure we can Publicize your post:

The problem was replicated in Firefox and Chrome with browser caches emptied. I disconnected the connections and reconnected after deleting app permissions in Twitter and tumblr. I uninstalled and reinstalled Jetpack. I also reinstalled WordPress from scratch.

The issue is related to each connection being listed twice. I think this is creating a conflict. Is it possible for my account to be completely wiped so I can start again from scratch?

I don’t know what else to do.

Thank you in advance for your help.

    Hi there,

I’ve made an adjustment on our end. Can you please check if you’re seeing those connections twice?

Also, create a new test post and publish it to check if the connections to Tumblr and Twitter are working properly.

    Hi,

    Thank you for your help.

I followed your suggestion and created a new blog post. Unfortunately, the connections are still listed twice and do not work.

I’m thinking the solution would be to delete my wordpress.com details in their entirety and re-register. I can create a new email address for that purpose. Is this something we can do?

Also, I’ve disconnected from Jetpack so you can delete my wordpress.com account. I can re-connect it if you wish.

To close a WordPress.com account, please follow this guide: https://wordpress.com/support/close-account/

If there any issue after re-connecting under a different account?

    Thank you for your reply.

I believe that closing an earlier account accidentally (and improperly) caused the problem I now have. As I’ve explained, I see two instances of each connection (twitter and tumblr) that are creating the conflict. The only solution I see must come from the wordpress.com side of things. If wordpress.com deletes all traces of my account for rightingtheship.ca I can then create a new account without conflicts.

You need to follow these steps to close a WordPress.com account: https://wordpress.com/support/close-account/

We cannot do it for you.

    Perhaps I misunderstand.

My site is a www.ads-software.com site (self-hosted at rightingtheship.ca). I created an account with wordpress.com solely to use Jetpack. The instructions you direct me to seem to be for a wordpress.com hosted site. Are they the same thing?

Currently, rightingtheship.ca is an entirely new install which I did because of the Jetpack issue I was having. Yet somehow traces of an old Jetpack account for rightingtheship.ca are interfering with my current use of Jetpack. This is why I’m wondering if the solution isn’t on that end of things.

If there is no way for those traces to be removed, Ill simply delete Jetpack in its entirety.

I do thank you for your guidance.

I assume you’re referring to deleting the old WordPress.com account. If that is the case, then you must follow https://wordpress.com/support/close-account/

At least according to tests from our end though, Jetpack is working properly at https://rightingtheship.ca/ now, and we don’t have the site attached to any other account than the one it is currently attached to.

You could also try specifically reconnecting Publicize following the full steps here: https://jetpack.com/support/publicize/facebook/#reconnecting-facebook

Thank you for your patience. I have tested the connection once again and everything seems to work correctly now. The double connection no longer exists. I appreciate all of the help I received.
