    Hello
I wonder to install this plugin on my site because I see according to google insights the speed is too slow. I have more than 1400 pictures in jpg format. The recommendation is to change the file format (jpg2000 or jpeg XR) and make some changes about CSS/JS format.
In the way that I understand how “Smush” does work, it compress picture (another format) and changes the codes CSS/JS for optimizing.
Excuse me if I am wrong, but I am not enough familiar with these problems.
    So, my problem is that:
Many of the pictures on my site have a high rating in Google search – 1-st to 10-the place.
If I “Smush” them, their format will be changed, and Google search will not find them, because Google remembers them as jpg pictures, and after “Smushing” they will be jpg2000 (maybe).
So they will lose their high rank. Is this true? If I am not right, what exactly “Smush” does?

    Hello @sirtak

    I trust you’re doing well!

The Smush plugin optimizing images and it is not changing an image format. If an image is jpeg format, it will remain jpeg. The plugin also not making any changes in CSS/JS files.

Smush plugin compresses thumbnails images, it will not affect image page ranking. It can even improve the page ranking since an image will be smaller in size.

    I hope this helps!

    Cheers,
    Nastia
