I am creating a new podcast and using PowerPress to manage it.

    Problem:

My PowerPress > Settings > Feeds tab shows the feed with warnings (no episodes). I’m not sure how the settings in this area are used when configured for Post Type Podcasting (like copyright, etc).

This default feed URL appears bad, I’m not using it. Is this a problem?

    Background:

I initially tried setting it up using the default method, then changed to use Category Podcasting, then changed to Post Type Podcasting. I was trying to find the level of separation from the blog that I wanted. I’m happy with the Post Type Podcasting approach. However, I can’t tell if my path to get to Post Type Podcasting has created bad configurations that I can’t seem to clean up.

My desired post type feed is here and seems fine.

I can change anything at this point as I haven’t yet submitted the feeds to any directories.

If you are using Post-type other than “Posts” you need to assign the post type to the default feed for those settings to apply.

To do this, enable “custom podcast channels” (advanced settings at the bottom of the page in PowerPress settings) and then in the Podcast Channels menu under PowerPress in the sidebar, edit the default feed. Go to the “other settings” tab and select the post type you want to use. Save changes.

Thank you for the quick response!

I made the change but the default feed still shows as invalid. When using Podcast Channels, should it also be used Post Type Podcasting? I’ve tried it with and without Post Type Podcasting enabled.

The Podcast Channel “podcast” (default) shows 0 items in it. It should show 1. When I validate the feed I get: “FATAL: Found zero items with a valid enclosure tag. Cannot validate. Did not finish feed tests.”

    What am I missing?

You should not need to have “post type podcasting” enableld or setup to map the default feed to the post type.

Thank you Mike for the help.

I deleted the created Post Type Podcast entry I had setup and disabled “Post Type Podcasting”. I had to re-create the podcast episode entry under the custom post type and then it showed up correctly as an episode and the feed was validated.

    Thank you for the help!
