Couldn’t activate the plugin because it triggered a fatal error

    I’m updating my plugins today and when i tried to go back to the home site it was just blank white page. I received an automatic email from WordPress saying that my website is experiencing a technical issue and the culprit is WordFence. So I renamed the plugin to deactivate it as I couldn’t log in to the back end of my site. And when i try to activate Wodfence, I couldn’t because it triggered a fatal error. I also try deleting the plugin and clearing my cache, but no luck.

    Do you recall the exact error? If so, can you please share it?

    Can you check your PHP error logs for any relevant errors and share them? If you’re not sure where these are your host can provide them to you.

    Hi @wfgerald ,

    I don’t remember the exact error but it has something to do with “debugging”. I had to deactivate WordFence to be able to login to my website again.

I tried to deactivate those two and I still couldn’t activate WordFence. “Plugin could not be activated because it triggered a fatal error.”

    WordFence is working though on our other websites.

    Hey @lhynn2172,

    Can you first try manually resetting Wordfence?

    https://www.wordfence.com/help/advanced/remove-or-reset/#remove-or-reset

    Once you’ve done this, can you try disabling all other plugins then try activating it?

    I would be interested to see the outcome here as I have the exact same problem. Works fine on 3 other sites but on one, crashed it, and now I can’t activate it in the plugin section, after deleting and re-uploading it.
