• Whatever you have in the options boxes by default (all the German text) produces a warning from WordFence. If you remove all that then the warnings go away.

The problem with this plugin (like the other comment length limiters that I’ve tested) is that there is no countdown for the user. There is no warning until AFTER the comment has already been posted.

E.g., I write a comment that’s 2,000 characters long and it takes me 30 minutes. After I’m done, I get the error that my comment is too long! Nothing warns me that the comment is too long until I finally submit it.

Then, there’s nothing that says, “You’re over by this many characters.” So the user has no idea what the comment length actually is.

Lastly, the only 5-star ratings are from the author himself. A little strange.

  • I also received the same WordFence warnings – so thanks for the heads up on that Danny. This plugin works – it’s just the basic functionality. Your satisfaction will correlate with how much you are looking for out of the plugin. I’ve had a ton of spam that is composed of massively long posts – so it’s nice to use this plugin to knock that stuff down.
