Images not rendering

  • After upgrading to the latest version of WordPress, I have struggled with any of the themes rendering properly, in that in most cases I’m unable to see previews of my websites when going to the Appearance > Customise element of the theme

    At the same time, no images render within the theme at all
    yet, when I click on “edit” the image is clearly visible, however, in the Media Library, I only see blank squares

    In some instances, icons render on my websites
    In other instances, images render with a question mark (?) as a placeholder
    But in most instances, no images render at all

    Are there known issues with the WordPress updates?

    I have uninstalled and reinstalled WordPress multiple times
    I have uninstalled any plugins that were causing known issues
    I have installed themes on their own, with no plugins, to check if the issues occurs

    I am now beyond frustrated with this situation, and would appreciate any assistance I can get in order to rectify the situation, as this is affecting ALL of my websites (of which I have 3!)

    The two in particular that I’m trying to get up-and-running as quick as possible are:

  • Have you gone to your web host CP and cleared the cache?

    Looks like with the first site it redirects to HTTPS and then the browser fails to load several images due to them being blocked since they are not being requested using HTTPS also.

    Example:

    Blocked loading mixed active content “https://iceeltd.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/01/2-1024x683.jpg” iceeltd.com

    Looks like one of your plugins or maybe the theme is trying to load them this way. I tried to look at one of the images directly but get a 403 Forbidden to perhaps hotlinking as been disabled. Anyway, if you are going to be using HTTPS, then all requests need to be using it.

    Thanks for your responses, appreciate your assistance.

    Have finally worked through ICEE Ltd and got that up-and-running with a theme, plug-ins and some minor edits before delving deeper.

    Turns out Cloudflare was giving a few issues, so loaded the Cloudflare plugin, as well as another plugin, as well as permissions on folders and files causing problems.

    Will mean more tweaking and updates for my other website, but now that I know what to do, it should be a bit quicker.
