Creating several blog archives on one page

I’m not even sure this is possible, but wanted to ask…

I’d like to set up a collective archives page that would display the archives of several different blogs. All the blogs would be on the same server in various subdirectories, but I would like to have the Archive link on each page take users to a collective Archive sorted by Blog title.

Is it possible to do this, and if so, what would be the cleanest way of doing it?

I’m thinking about having each blog out put a stripped-down archive page in its own directory, and then hard-linking them as includes on the collective Archives page. Would this work? Am I asking for trouble? Is there a much easier way to do this?
