How to make super simple Open / Closed Status for golf course website?

  • I just need to have an image in the sidebar that says STATUS: OPEN or STATUS: CLOSED, and I need my client to control this through the dashboard easily (perhaps a radio box) – what’s the easiest way to do this, and is there a plugin that allows for having a simple interface to display one of 2 images?

    But to display it in the sidebar of every single page?

    My client is a Golf Course. If they think the weather is good enough, they open the course. Otherwise they close it. They need to manually change this on the website, in the sidebar, on every page of the WordPress site.

    How about the simple text widget that comes with wordpress with a title of ‘Course Status’ and text of ‘Open’ or ‘Closed’?

    They can edit the widget text as needed.

    It needs to be a more professional looking solution than that, and the status needs to be an image.

    I just need 2 radio buttons somewhere on the dashboard for the client to click. Depending which one they click, the corresponding image shows in the sidebar. Anything like that without using php-exec or similar?

    OK, I modified a plugin called Freelance Status to display images. If you will email me (Mac McDonald) by using the About->Contact Us form at bluegrassmiataclub.com, I will send you a copy.

    Unless you have already solved this, I think I have a good solution.

    The plugin creates a widget called ‘Course Status’ with two radio buttons (Open and Closed), and two text fields for paths to two image files. The image file displayed is selected by the radio buttons.
