The <del tag isn't working

  • I have a list item I marked with the del tag but it isn’t working. It is supposed to draw a line through the text to show it will be deleted but there is no line drawn through the letters. I selected del from the top of the Write Page and it correctly added the code with the date and time but the text is not marked up when viewed in the page. I’ve tried Safari and Opera to see if it is a browser thing but it doesn’t work in either one.

    I wonder if it works in this message.

  • Your theme does not style it, so you get nothing.
    Ask your theme support forum to add a style, and/or add one yourself in Customizer > Additional CSS.

    Thank you. I looked at the theme’s stylesheet and it is in a group of tags that were reset. I’ve contacted the theme developer and asked what style I need to add to get the line drawn through the text.

    I tried adding this to my child theme but it didn’t help.
    del {text-decoration: line-through;}

    I look forward to the answer from the developer.
