• Nicolas,

Would love your help again! I’ve found a conflict between Customizr Pro and the Footnotes made Easy plugin. I’ve turned off all of my other plugins, flushed cache and I still have the issue. If I change the theme to Hueman then the issue goes away. It is still present with the Customizr theme.

If you scroll to the bottom of this post you’ll see “Sources and Footnotes”. Here the numbers are scrambled using firefox and a macbook air. They look much better with Google Chrome, Safari or on an iphone. The developer only sees this issue on my site, hence the theme is likely

(Note – please ignore the 2nd to last section “Sources”. I wanted readers to still see sources in the interim. That is just a regular numbered list.)

The page I need help with: [log in to see the link]

OK Thanks for reporting the problem.
    I’m exploring a fix.

Can you also report the problem to the Footnotes made easy plugin authors ?
    Thank you

Thanks Nicolas! I reported it to the plugin author first. Since he’s only seeing the error on my site, he asked me to contact the theme author and to keep him posted as well. He also saw the problem with a Firefox browser.

    Hi,
It appears that the plugin is adding a symbol at the start of each link in the ordered list. The symbol is superimposed by the number that is the default for an ordered list. @cecileseth I am not sure if you want to use a symbol or an incremented number?

If you just want the latter without the symbol then there is a class being applied to the ordered list tag <ol> called “footnotes”. So the tag looks like this (using firefox inspector tool: <ol class="footnotes">. Using the tools if you edit out that class so it looks like: <ol> you are left with the default incremented numbers.

I think there may be a script in the plugin that is adding that class dynamically? So that script could be hacked to stop that from happening.

@andrewf9 That was incredibly helpful and insightful. By changing the plugin’s settings to “symbol”, I can now see the numbers, under sources. They don’t show up in the body of the text. However, this enables a manual work around of adding them manually e.g.(1) in the body until the plug in gets fixed. Still superior to their largest competitor.

I’m not a developer so have not yet exactly understood how to implement the fix you described in your second paragraph. I will share it with the plugin author and get back to you if I need further help.

Alternatively, if you could give more detailed directions I’ll definitely try it.

@cecileseth Thank you for your reply. I am pleased you found a workaround. I am not familiar with the plugin. The plugin developer might recognise the ‘footnotes’ class, it should be specified in a stylesheet in the plugin. Simple text search should discover it.

If he cannot help and you still need to fix it, I can have a look at the plugin code.

    Thanks so much! Woot, woot!

    Hi everyone,

I’m the developer of the plugin in question.

I’d like to discuss this further but I’m aware that this is for the Pro version of the theme. I’m also a member of the www.ads-software.com support team and know that’s a no-no. These forums are for the free versions only.

If this can be moved elsewhere and I can be invited, I’ll happily discuss this further so that we can find a resolution.

Hello @dartiss thanks for contributing ??.
The topic is actually relevant for both the free and pro version of the Customizr theme, despite the title of the topic.
So it would be fine to continue on this topic. Or if you prefer, a new topic can be opened on your plugin’s support forum. As you want.

Yeah, I’m not sure how an admin would see this as it’s less to do with which theme is the root cause but the fact that the person opening this support ticket is asking for help with the Pro version, which is what they’re using.

The same would apply for moving this to my forum too, as we would be discussing issues with her Pro version of the theme.

Let me check with an admin and I’ll let you know…

    OK.
Note if it can help, that in the initial topic, the user explicitely says that the issue concerns also the free version :

Here’s the problem with this topic.

Would love your help again! I’ve found a conflict between Customizr Pro and the Footnotes made Easy plugin.

Users of Customizr Pro can’t be supported on these forums. That’s not cool and disrespecful to theme and plugin authors who adhere to the guidelines. That’s why I am closing this topic, it’s just not for the Customizr community support forums.

For pro or commercial product support please contact the author directly on their site. This includes any pre-sales topics as well.

As the author is aware, commercial products are not supported in these forums. I am sure they will have no problem supporting you there.

BUT! Take heart and continue to read.

The Customizr Pro theme cannot be supported in this particular theme support sub forum. But it is 100% valid to seek support for the plugin using this link.

    https://www.ads-software.com/support/plugin/footnotes-made-easy/#new-post

See, that plugin is supported on this site. It is valid to post there and say exactly this:

Would love your help again! I’ve found a conflict between Customizr Pro and the Footnotes made Easy plugin.

In that plugin support forum you would not be asking for support of the Customizr Pro theme. You would be asking for support of the plugin that may have an issue with that Pro theme. That’s fine and totally allowed. Also, I know David would love to support you there.

Use that link to post there, feel free to link to this topic and please seek support in the right place. I know it can get confusing but on this site that plugin support is allowed. Here for the pro version of Customizr it is not.

Edit: Ha! I need more coffee.

Please continue the plugin topic at this link.
