My client has a recent blog post with 119+ comments and for some reason its only displaying the last 19 or so comments. I can’t think of the logic behind why only a certain amount (which changes from small to large but never the full amount) is shown. It’s been around 45ish before when there was about 95 comments, so it’s random whatever the problem.

Check out the blog post here: https://chicgalleria.com/2009/11/giveaway-the-body-shop-holiday-bath-body-basket/

It can’t be any plugins that would cause this, because I am not using any special comment plugins or plugins for posts. This is the first time I’ve noticed this problem, and I can’t say this has happened before, but this online magazine has been re-released since october. So, it’s pretty new and still working out the kinks.

  • I’m seeing 119 comments on that page now…did you change the number of comments to show on each page option? (/wp-admin/options-discussion.php)

I know that you can add some code to your theme to enable comment pagination so you don’t load 100+ comments per blog post, but I’m not sure exactly what you have to add to get it working.

For example, if you do that a url like https://chicgalleria.com/2009/11/giveaway-the-body-shop-holiday-bath-body-basket/comment-page-2/ would show comments 20-40 (if you had a 20 comment per page limit set).

    Hope that makes sense.

Actually, I just figured it out after 3 painful hours lol. Turns out its an option to paginate the comments if over X amount specified. You can find it here: https://romano3.com/_grabup/ee336b4a568e53fc35d628688529e7cf.png

I will eventually add the ‘pagination’ (thats the logical word I was diggin for lol) back in and customize it to the theme. Thanks for the help though! I will definitely remember this for next time.

What do you think of the site by the way? I never really got any feedback from much outside people. I just found that i need to update the leave a comment box to also be at the bottom of the comments too. Widgets are going to get fixed so that certain banners are on certain category pages (easy to do) and lots of miniscule fixes like color changes to links and so forth.
