Notifying Authors of Comments

Howdy – what’s the best way to notify authors of comments? The only plugin I can find is this one: https://www.ads-software.com/extend/plugins/moderation-notify-author/

But that seems too simple, plus it doesn’t allow authors to opt-out.

Any other recommendations?
