    Hello
    Is text widgets the best way to use for videos, flashbanners, slideshows etc.?

    For videos and slideshows there are plugins that assist you with the rendering and that often offer sidebar widgets as well like Next Gen Gallery (sldieshows/images). But yeah, you can embed stuff in text widgest as the can contain html.
