How to get consecutive post id for next new post?

  • I set permalink as POST ID but when i create new post it skip 1 or 2 id and assign next id but not consecutive/continuous id.

    is there any DEFINE to give continuous id?

    this i needed to make android App which just change NEXT post id to see next post, if wordpress leave some gap then that page will be blank

  • The attachments are stored in the posts table, so they also get post IDs like posts do. And you can make a Page in between two Posts, so the posts are not consecutive. Also, menu items are in the posts table, using those same IDs. Also, Customizer changesets are in the posts table. Also, any other custom post types (like a plugin’s slider posts or the upcoming Full Site Editing templates and template parts) are in the same table, so there is no way to assume that the next post will be last post plus one.
