    Hi all,

    I work for an art museum and we are in the process of updating our website to a wordpress website. In this process, we are discussing opening a selection of our museum shop products to purchase online and are looking into WooCommerce. I do have a few questions before we even attempt this though.

    1) Like most nonprofits, we use a database, Altru (a blackbaud product) to handle a lot of out files including our inventory, will WooCommerce connect to that somehow or will they operate as two separate entities?

    2) If they do not work together, can WooCommerce be used as a Front Desk product as well so we can just use one program both online and in person? We are just trying to make it so things match up on both sides or at least fully on one.

    Thanks for any help you can give!

    Hi there,

    WooCommerce, as a WordPress plugin, utilises the same database that your WordPress website does. I’m not familiar with Altru or Blackbaud, but I see the Blackbaud Website Package uses WordPress. One would think in that case you would be able to integrate the two systems, but it will require custom development if no other plugins for it currently exists.

    It is possible to use WooCommerce both as an online shop and a Point of Sale. Extensions like the ones below can help make that possible:

    * https://woocommerce.com/products/point-of-sale-for-woocommerce/
    * https://woocommerce.com/products/foosales-for-woocommerce/

    We haven’t heard back from you in a while, so I’m going to mark this as resolved – if you have any further questions, you can start a new thread.
