• Trying to upload a theme but I’m receiving this error:

    The uploaded file could not be moved to /home/admin1/public_html/wp-content/uploads/2009/12.

    How do I fix?

  • Themes don’t go in uploads/ They go in wp-content/themes/

    That makes sense… but this is the error I get when I am logged into WP and I go to “Add New Themes” under “Appearance”…

    why would it be trying to load to the wrong folder? Can I fix this?

    Strange that the theme uploader is trying to go to uploads. Check your folder permissions (Changing File Permissions ? WordPress Codex) and try a manual upload with the theme using FTP to the themes directory.

    Are you running the latest version of WP? Do you have problems uploading pictures from the editor?

    Check your Settings > Miscellaneous, and ensure that Store uploads in this folder is set to ?wp-content/uploads? – in my experience this can fudge up a lot of things if it’s not set up right.

    Is the theme file zipped? The it could go first to your uploads as a temp file.

    Im not really techincal enough to figure out the file permissions (and according to the link you gave, it says that i shouldnt mess with them if Im an amateur). I will try a manual ftp and report the results

    @stiand
    yeah Im running the latest version and “wp-content/uploads” was the default in the “store uploads in this folder” field

    @henkholland
    yeah the theme is zipped per the instructions of wordpress when logged into the theme uploader.

    just did a manual ftp and was able to upload… shame i couldnt just use the simple uploader but the end result is the same.

    thanks for your input everyone.
