Redirects in expert mode cause SEO issues

Hey there,

I recently switched to expert mode after using the simple mode for years. After running pagespeed and pingdom website test tools, one thing that both tools reported was “reduce redirects”. Pagespeed in fact reported this as an error at the top as a warning “The page is being redirected” (although the page being redirected to was pointed as the page that was being tested.)

While using the expert, .htaccess mode reduced the total server time response, I am wondering what effect this has on overall SEO. In general for SEO terms, redirects from the original page to a new page are discouraged.

Has anyone used the expert mode and seen their SEO results drop instead of going up?
