    Hi Guys

I know that there are a few threads on here and also some information on your knowledge base about this, but they are all old and outdated.

According to a lot of discussion and your responses, there is an issue sending the checkbox data for the GDPR Marketing Permission directly to MailChimp due to MailChimp not opening up these fields in their API.

These fields are super helpful in segmentation of the list so that we can send mail only to those opted in accordingly.

I know there is a workaround to use another Group for this instead, but primary integration would be way better and it makes sense to use the field data that is inbuilt by Mailchimp.

Apparently this is now available within the API and has been since October 2018, but I do not see any update in your plugin to allow the integration of these fields in forms using your plugin.

    Any update please?

    Hi,

It’s on our todo list. For now we still recommend using Interest groups instead of the GDPR fields, that should give you essentially the same options.

There is also a checkbox you can easily add to our forms that will simply not allow the form to be submitted if the box isn’t checked. With that added to your form you can be sure that any contact that is added in MailChimp did agree / check that box. We don’t really see the use of adding subscribers that are not opt-in, but since it’s available in the API now it will be added to the plugin at some point.

When we will add this to he plugin I can’t say yet.

You can follow the issue here: https://github.com/ibericode/mailchimp-for-wordpress/issues/593

Hope that helps. If you have any questions, please let me know!

Thanks for replying to quickly that is very much appreciated.

To be honest I think 2 years is a little slow for what I would consider core function for a plugin with over 1m installs and users.

For the record, if it was added as a feature of the paid plugin version I might have considered that.

I understand your way of thinking. Actually it’s not requested as often as you would think, considering we indeed have over a million active installations, probably most people already use interest groups or other ways to track GDPR opt-in. Using those fields is in no way required by law.

I don’t think the fields have been available in the API for those 2 years, but they have been for awhile now.

    Hi,

I’m also in urgent need of this feature. My client is using Mailchimps forms and recently we’ve added the GDPR functionality with the marketing permissions. I’m using Yikes easy forms to integrate the form on our WordPress site. But unfortunately I can’t display the marketing permissions .. even with the gdpr addon from Yikes.

Using the groups feature in mailchimp is not a good option. In mailchimp you can’t use both, either you use the gdpr features with marketing permissions or the Groups, they are independent from each other. Showing both on a form won’t do.

It’s not easy to explain like this, but if you would take some time to test it out on mailchimp you would understand that these marketing permission fields are an absolute must for your plugin so that we can work the right way without problems.

So please, make it happen .. it would be really good for a lot of people I’m sure.

    Thanks!

I’ve forwarded your request to our developer.
