• I’ve seen these plug-ins and would like to know what all the excitement is about.

I’ve looked at the repository and didn’t find much in the way of a good explanation of what these things do.

Just taking them at face value, why would it be important to me or anyone to know how many words or comments I have? I’m not saying it’s a bad thing, I’m just trying to understand so I can decide if I should install them as well.

    Your advice is appreciated. ??

  • I use a post word count plugin to help my readers…it’s a nice way to tell them up front that this post is going to be a short read or a long one. Also, it’s a personal interest to me to see how much I’ve written over time.

That is all entirely up to you. Some people just like it.

Comment plugger is for plugging the people who commented on your entry. If you usually do this manually, you’ll find the plugin useful. If you don’t do this, it’s useless.

    Thanks everyone!

I guess with the post word count plugin an enterprising person could use the results to create some kind of graphical representation of the length of a post, maybe like a progress bar. You could maybe take the shortest and longest posts on your site to create a mean (or average or whatever) and thereby do a bar, or just words.

Might not be useful, but its an idea nonetheless.
