Theme Files Missing Error

  • I just upgraded to 2.9. When I select ‘appearance’ and then ‘editor’ I get the following message within a pink box: ‘Oops, no such file exists! Double check the name and try again, merci.’ Everything looks fine on the site and the files are obviously there when I view them through my ftp client. Any suggestions?

    Sorry. I was asked to update the database. This fixed the issue.

    please tell us how you fixed this, where does wordpress ask you to update db? didnt ask me that

    I was asked to update database when I open WP site for first time after uploading 2.9 – but that didn’t fix problem

    same here, but i did notice that this error only happens with the WordPress Classic 1.5 by Dave Shea theme, provided with the wordpress install, or my own theme, not with the WordPress Default 1.6 by Michael Heilemann theme, also provided with wordpress.

    also, i found that if you correct the url when you get this error, you can still reach the files. It seems wordpress generates a false path to the theme files, and therefore cannot find them.

    please fix this, or let us know how to fix this.

    Also, i did some research and saw this error come up in the beta section of 2.9. they marked it there as fixed, but apparently not, or not for me, at least.

    If something is wrong in my setup, i’ll gladly fix it, but give me some pointers please.

    i already tried the following:

    auto upgrade 2.8 -> 2.9
    clean install 2.9
    manual upgrade 2.8 -> 2.9
    no plugins – disactivate plugins – active plugins
    activated/deactivated theme

    all with no effect…

    i have the same problem. can not open any theme files. however, i can open the stylesheet. I am sort of a newbie, but know a little bit about changing stylesheet to modify colors etc, but really wan to start to play around with changing say the footer file to include my email address. but no matter which file i open, only the stylesheet file shows up. I don’t get the error message, i just keep getting the same stylesheet no matter which file i try to open. please help!
