• I applied the 2.9 upgrade to my installation without any visible errors. I do not see any image editing function in the Media Library, either when I upload (using Flash- or browser-based uploads) or edit an image.

My blog’s running on a Mac OS X Server 10.5.8 box, plenty of RAM. Apache version 1.3.41. I installed WordPress six months ago or so using the “five minute install” and it’s been working fine.

I’ve tried disabling every plugin to no effect. Does anyone have any suggestions for other things I can try?

Thanks in advance for your assistance.

  • Have you checked the PHP requirements?

Don’t want to state the obvious but have you tried clicking the Edit link under an image in your Media Library followed by Edit Image button (should be just under the image details at the very top of the page?

If you can’t see one of those Edit links, which one is missing? Have you tried switching to the default theme to rule out any theme-related problems?

@esmi, there’s no Edit Image button anywhere on the Edit Media page. Switching to the default theme doesn’t make any difference.

@microgroove, I might have originally, but I don’t recall what they were. My server is running PHP 5.2.11, FWIW.

Thank you both for your help!

I have same problem. WordPress is running on Debian Squeeze. Server Software Version are:
    Apache – 2.2.14-3
    PHP – 5.2.11

    dbodonnel,

I run 2.9 and php 5.1+, and don’t have this problem when using a firefox browswer in a windows platform…maybe its a browser issue…

dbodonnell and siukamming, you need to check the GD library version. It is an optional component of PHP that is required for image editing.

@miqrogroove: Ah. Thanks. I’ll go hunting now.

Yeah!! The button appear. miqrogroove, thank you very much !!

    Hey guys,

I’m running WP 2.9 on Windows Server 2003 with PHP 5.2.6… After upgrading to 2.9, I did not see the “Edit Image” button either. However, I was able to fix the problem by editing my php.ini file and removing the semicolon next to extension=php_gd2.dll in the extensions section. Make sure to restart IIS to load the new config.
