uploading .pdf and .doc to page

I have a wishlist membership site.

I am trying to upload .doc’s and .pdf’s as proprietary information on pages that are restricted to only my member’s area.

After repeated attempts, using either 1) upload under the media library, or 2) upload at the page level – always selecting the URL button, I’ve not had any success.

I posted the .doc’s on google app – and it links well, but I don’t think its as secure since only the link would need to be shared.

Anyone have suggestions?
