    For some reason now, when I save a new post, the image title info in the HTML markup goes away. The previous post in which I had inserted the title for an image also no longer contains the image title info.

    However, other older posts still contain the image title information, and the image title is correctly displayed when the cursor hovers over the image.

    I’ve tried manually inserting the title info at various locations within the <img> tag, but that does not solve the problem.

    I was running WP 2.8.6, so I upgraded to 2.9. But the problem still persists.

    Any ideas on how to fix this problem? Thanks for any help.

  • Have you tried:

    – deactivating all plugins to see if this resolves the problem? If this works, re-activate the plugins one by one until you find the problematic plugin(s).

    – switching to the default theme to rule out any theme-related problems?

    esmi, thank you so much for replying.

    I hadn’t thought about a possible plugin issue (although I probably should have!). I logged in as the ADMIN and deactivated one plugin that had been installed more recently. I was then able to successfully add the image title info.

    Then it occurred to me that, for security purposes, I had earlier changed that user from ADMIN to AUTHOR. After some experimenting, it appears the problem is not a plugin issue, but is a user role/capabilities issue. I changed that user to EDITOR and am now able to add the image title.

    Your response helped jar my thinking, esmi. Thanks so much for taking the time to offer some troubleshooting advice.

    I faced the same problem with u. Whilst I did manage to find out it was a user role /capabilities issue too, I wanted to keep the role setting.

    Just wondering if you manage to chance upon a solution other than to change the user role back to admin or editor.
