Dashboard not working; Site is Down; Error Messages
-
Hi. I posted about this yesterday and have not yet received any response. My site is down, so this matter is urgent to me. Since I am not a WordPress expert, I’m not sure what information to provide or what tags to use. But I will explain the problem as well as I can.
I’m sorry for reposting, but I’m very anxious to get my site back up.
Note: I had not changed anything before this happened. Had not upgraded WordPress, added any new plugins, or upgraded any plugins. It just suddenly stopped working.
On 12/19, I tried logging into WordPress via my Smartphone to approve a comment. I got error msgs (Which unfortunately I did not write down) and the Dashboard looked messed up. I figured it was something to do with accessing through phone, so I disregarded.
Yesterday (12/20), I logged on via computer, and the Dashboard was still messed up. Here is a partial screen shot:

When I go to approve comments, the screen looks like this:

I searched around in the WordPress forums and found some people recommending deactivating plugins and reactivating one by one. But apparently, all my plugins have already been deactivate, because I get the message:
You do not appear to have any plugins available at this time.
I am, however, able to see all my plugins via FTP, so I know they are there.
I thought maybe it would help to upgrade to 2.9, which I hadn’t done yet. However, when I clicked the link to auto-upgrade, I got these error messages:
Warning: gzinflate(): data error in /home/content/b/e/t/bethfish/html/wp-includes/http.php on line 1788
Warning: gzuncompress(): data error in /home/content/b/e/t/bethfish/html/wp-includes/http.php on line 1793
When I refreshed my site, the only thing that came up was the header. It stopped after the header and before the menu bar. The URL is https://fakeplasticfish.com but right now I have replaced my index page with a page letting visitor’s know what’s up.
What further information would you need to diagnose this problem? I am not a WordPress programmer. I am very good at following instructions, but this time, I’m afraid of screwing up the whole thing.
BTW, my database is automatically backed up every night and emailed to me.
I copied all my widget information into a document so I can easily recreate it.
I have backed up everything else I could via FTP.
