Media Library, Plugin update and install failures

    Hello,

    I hope to get some ideas where to look next on this one.

    WP and plugins are up to date. Latest version of PHP. All that was done some time ago and was working well. WP site health – nothing essential is missing. Nothing relevant is displayed when debug is on. Nothing relevant in PHP logs. Also can see any issues at front (images, page content all good).

    1. First I discovered that I can not update plugins. This method does work anymore: Dashboard->Plugins then pick one and click “update now”. A very strange long message comes up with no useful info (part of it can bee seen below). However, I can update plugin using this method: WordPress Updates->Plugins, click check box and then “Update Plugins” action button
    2. Both “Search installed plugins” and “Add Plugins”-> “Search Plugins” do not work – keeps spinning and nothing comes back. Featured and Popular plugins are listed, no problem. Add Plugins->Upload Plugin works fine. So does activate if uploaded via FTP.
    3. Dashboard->Media->Library – images are not displayed, just keeps spinning. Checked files permissions – all good. No issue with displaying images at front end or by URL.

    Disabling themes and plugins one by one and lower PHP version on a clone of the original site did not help.

    Also WP Bakery acts strange – those small edit pop windows are blank and Role Manager cant save its settings – keeps spinning. The rest of the back end seems to be fine.

    Have no idea where to look next.
