After the update to 8.8, I’m getting this error when trying to reconnect with my wp.com dashboard. I followed the instructions of disconnecting and reconnecting, no go. I have disabled all my plugins other than Jetpack. No joy there, either.

So, what do I do now?

Error updating settings. Unexpected token < in JSON at position 0
There seems to be a problem with your connection to WordPress.com. If the problem persists, try reconnecting.

PS: I had this same damn error over a year ago. It was after another Jetpack update. I came here for solutions then, too.

I have now deleted and reinstalled Jetpack. When I try to set it up, I get a blank page. Lovely.

And Site Health now says “Blog token if exists”. I guess I have to look up blog token.

    Hi there!

What is the URL of your site so we can take a look?

Oh, and my error log says:

    [Thu Aug 06 17:18:07 2020] [error] mod_fcgid: ap_pass_brigade failed in handle_request_ipc function

Okay, I have more information for you.

    1. My xmlrp.php doesn’t work for my main domain, tikatu.com. It does, however, work for the subdirectory that my WP build is in. (At least it does if I put it in my browser line. Otherwise, I get an Internal Server Error.)

    2. There is code in my .htaccess file to redirect from main site name to subdirectory.

    2. Jetpack should install in the subdirectory. So, how do I make it call to the subdirectory? It did before the update. How do I create this missing blog token?

I have been annoying my webhost support about this and they keep telling me they can’t help; it’s all on y’all.

At least according to tests from our end, Jetpack is working properly at https://tikatu.com/ now.

Are you still having trouble with this?

Yes, actually. I’m in touch with the Happiness team and they’re running some connectivity tests.

Excellent, we’ll continue with you over that email then. ??
