My site is on a host (Pantheon) where write access to the file system is heavily locked down. When I activate this plugin, I start to see this message at the top of every admin screen:

To perform the requested action, WordPress needs to access your web server.

Does the Video Gallery plugin require continuous write access to my file system? If not, it’s making WordPress think it does. If so, I cannot use the plugin — it is impossible to enable write access on my production server.

Update: When this message is appearing, the “Verify” button for playlists does not work — it just spins forever. It seems that the plugin does need some kind of write access to function, though I can’t imagine what it would be.

Update #2: If I generate the shortcode in an environment where SFTP is enabled, then paste it into a page where it is not, the videos and playlists load just fine. Apparently it is only the video verifier that requires write access.

Additional information I forgot to mention earlier: I have disabled the plugin’s cache in the settings.

    Hi @jajanowiak

Sorry reply late on your question.

For the plugin, we do not require any access.

Seem that message is from other plugin.

For the Verify button, can you please send me more details to contact form at

Looking forward to hearing from you.

    Best regards,

I found my solution through the Pantheon documentation — this is a known issue with some plugins, including YotuWP, and they have published a workaround for it here: https://pantheon.io/docs/plugins-known-issues
