An active PHP session was detected by the plugin Site Health:

“A PHP session was created by a session_start() function call. This interferes with REST API and loopback requests. The session should be closed by session_write_close() before making any HTTP requests.”

I don’t know what that means, really. What can I do to fix this?

So, here is my final take on this issue: I just waited to see the first updates of the plugins after the wp update to 5.5 and it resolved by itself. This means that the error was introduced with the wp upgrade 5.5 and the plugin responsible for the error was then fixed. From all I can tell, here the culprit was Jetpack.
    Have a nice day.

I fixed this on my site by deactivating the plugin “WP Limit Login Attempts” (https://www.ads-software.com/plugins/wp-limit-login-attempts/)

I was using Wordfence to limit login attempts already, so there was no need to replace it.
