WP v5.5 Multiple Issues Resolution
-
After updating to WP v5.5 numerous issues appeared in the admin functions of a client’s eCommerce site including tabs not responding (i.e. visual vs text editing), modifying product descriptions, broken page, product and post layouts and more.
The site in question is using WooCommerce and the Flatsome theme. The theme and all plugins are up-to-date. I tried disabling plugins, changing themes, etc. and nothing worked. I couldn’t even restore the site using Updraft Plus because the restore button was unresponsive.
Another user resolved these problems by installing the “Enable jQuery Migrate Helper” plugin.
According to the plugin developer:
“With the update to WordPress 5.5, a migration tool known as jquery-migrate will no longer be enabled by default. This may lead to unexpected behaviors in some themes or plugins who run older code.
This plugin serves as a temporary solution, enabling the migration script for your site to give your plugin and theme authors some more time to update, and test, their code.”
FIX: Installing the “Enable jQuery Migrate Helper” plugin seems to have fixed the issues on the site in question.

No guarantees, but this worked for me.
I plan on restoring the site from a previous backup until WP and/or the theme devs get things ironed out.
