    Hi,
    All of a sudden the users’ comments will not display on my blog when viewed as a user. All the comments are there and available from my dashboard, but they will not show up when my website is viewed. I have comments enabled and they require my moderation before being displayed. All I have done is take the latest Jetpack update (in the last 24 hours) and a few days ago I went to the WordPress version 5.5. Interesting that my blog site displays how many comments there are, but does not display them.
    Any help greatly appreciated.
    Rob

  • Hi @robmc – WordPress 5.5 has major updates to jQuery. The comments issue seems to be associated with the same. I suggest installing this plugin and checking if the comments work then – https://www.ads-software.com/plugins/enable-jquery-migrate-helper/

    Hi Samuel,
    Thanks for your reply. I have downloaded and installed this plugin, however it does not appear to have cured the problem with my users’ comments not being displayed on the blog.

    Do you have any other suggestions, or might I have to go back to the previous version of WordPress?

    Any thoughts appreciated.
    Regards,
    Rob

    Hi Samuel,
    When I access the Discussion setting in WordPress, I get the following warning message from the jquery-migrate plugin.

    jQuery Migrate Helper — Warnings encountered
    This page generated the following warnings:

    jQuery.fn.andSelf() replaced by jQuery.fn.addBack()
    jQuery.fn.andSelf() replaced by jQuery.fn.addBack()
    Please make sure you are using the latest version of all of your plugins, and your theme. If you are, you may want to ask the developers of the code mentioned in the warnings for an update.

    I’m not sure which plugin is producing this warning?
    Any ideas?
    Rob

    Thanks to Samuel!! My site is now correctly showing the comments. It related to the theme Yoko having an issue with 5.5. Samuel assisted with a fix which has now been implemented.

    Hello @robmc,

    is it possible to get this fix? Because until today Yoko isn’t updated.

    Thank you in advance.

    Hi @gestalterrier in yoko theme’s functions.php file, you need add:

    case 'comment' :

    after this line – https://themes.trac.www.ads-software.com/browser/yoko/1.2.5/functions.php#L261
