• I have a layout issue in IE8 where the sidebar displays underneath the pages content (centered) and footer appears near the top of the page,
the blog displays fine in firefox.

I have tried changing the theme of my blog and the problem remains, I have also tried disabling each widget but to no avail. All my posts are written in notepad, so I am sure there are no “copied from word” issues.

The url of my blog is: https://www.highimpact-seo.co.uk/seo-blog/

Any ideas how to fix this?

  • By any chance do you have any nested HTML forms? I had a very similar effect when I had 2 nested HTML forms appearing on a page – which is a no-no in HTML. FireFox could handle/workaround it, but IE8 stayed true to web standards and blew up.

Not sure if this is your issue, but funny to hear of something very similar to my (former) problem.

Try this: run some examples pages on your blog through https://www.BrowserShots.org — and even try IE8 there too, in addition to some other browsers (and try IE8 on a friend’s machine). See if you can deduce if the problem is with your personal machine’s IE8 configuration/setup.

Also, switch your IE8 to Compatibility Mode, which sorta simulates how your blog looks in IE7.
