Understanding WP version

  • This may sound strange, but I don’t know what version of WP I am running our blog is MaineRealEstateNews.com. It was installed a few years ago – theme is ocean mist 1.0 – so its a bit old. I got an email from WP a week or so ago suggesting I upgrade and that there would be an upgrade button or link in my dashboard. I cannot find it – could someone give me some direction?

  • You are currently running WordPress 2.0.4. That is definitely very out of date and, as I recall, has some security issues. An update is definitely overdue!

    Newer versions of WP do offer an upgrade button, but you’ll have to do a manual update to get to that point. Start with Upgrading_WordPress and see if that helps you.
