    Hello,

My API is restricted only for my website and I receive this error “Google error: API keys with referer restrictions cannot be used with this API.” when I try to generate a shortcode. You plugin doesn’t work with restricted API?

    Hi @topsan123,

According to the Google API, you can’t use your own API key in a third-party services, like our plugin. It’s a limitation of Google, not the plugin.

So, you need to disable any restrictions of the API key by the following instructions:

    1. Go to the Google Console?https://console.developers.google.com/apis/dashboard?pli=1

    2. Select your Google project where you created the API key:

    3. Select ‘Credentials’ menu and edit your API key:

    4. Select ‘None’ in the ‘Application restrictions’ section and ‘Don’t restrict key’ in the ‘API restrictions’ section:

After that, try to connect your Google place again in the plugin.

Let me know if you?have any problems with this.

    Thanks!

    Thanks!

I’m not sure that is true – I’ve been using a Google maps plugin for years with website restrictions. This is required to make sure that the information is only supplied to that website.

removing the website restrictions leave the API open to is being used on any website. Please could you check and review

    Hi @trevorwood,

You are most likely using a plugin that works on the client side (in frontend), but this plugin works on the server and there may not be a referrer or static IP address for checking in Google Places API restrictions.

    Thanks!

Possibly – however, I’ve found a work around and that is to use the IP address
