google translator – semi-automatic translation

I use WP 2.9 and Global Translator v1.2.7 which uses Google Translator engine for text translation and more often than not 99% of the time i get the following error when i click on the language maps to try and translate from the original language which is english into another lanaguage

“the page has not been translated yet. the translation process will take a while.in the mean time a semi-automatic translation will be provided in a few seconds”.

Can someone tell me what i can do to resolve this? i am prepared to buy the professional edition if need be but i need to know that the problem will not carry across.
