When I upgraded from WooCommerce 4.3.3 to 4.4.1, I noticed that WooCommerce didn’t interpret HTML tags in product titles. We use tags like bold and break to separate a product brand and reference from its more general description in the product title. You can take a look at an example here (WooCommerce 4.3.3). When I updated WooCommerce, it just showed the tags in the product title instead of rendering them, so I had the tags like <b> and <br> in plain text in the product titles. Here is what it looks like if I update to the latest version of WooCommerce (in the meantime, I rolled back this update of WooCommerce on my site.).

What is strange is that the tags were still being interpreted when I was on the product category pages, but when it was a product page, you could see the tags in plaintext.

My question is: is it a bug? Or was it done on purporse, and in that case, why just on product pages?

    Hi @tompo0323

There is a known issue for Shop Managers where they are unable to use HTML in product titles: https://github.com/woocommerce/woocommerce/issues/25243

Are you currently using an admin account or a shop manager account?

@m155y5 I use an admin account. So, I shouldn’t have this issue, right?

You’re correct, however, I just tested this and was able to recreate it with an admin account, so it would seem that the issue is not isolated to Shop Managers.

I’m going to update the issue noted above to let our developers know it’s also an issue when using admin accounts.

@m155y5 Are you sure we’re talking about the same issue?

IN the link to the issue you sent me, it’s about WooCommerce not saving non-HTML text formatting tags. If you look again at my screenshots, you will see that WooCommerce has saved all HTML tags I put in, it’s just that it doesn’t render them as HTML in the browser.

Should I create a new bug issue on Github?

Ah, I gotcha now! Yes, this does appear to be a bug and I do not see one that’s already been created, so yes feel free to create a new one.

An issue in Github was already created for this bug.

If I understood that issue correctly, it will be fixed in version 4.5.0 of the WooCommerce plugin. Can someone who is familiar with Github confirm this?

This has been reported to the open-source WooCommerce project here HERE.

Currently, that fix is set to be included in WooCommerce 4.5. If you are interested in receiving updates on this matter, please feel free to follow along on the list I’ve shared above.
