Even though JetPack had been working fine for some time just today it brought down my site twice. I have deleted the plugin. I have been adding and removing plugins experimenting with different issues and I don’t have a detailed log but something isn’t getting along now. I have deleted the plugin pending some analysis

The messages I most recently got from JetPack were:

Warning: require_once(/home4/xxxxxx/public_html/wp-content/plugins/jetpack/class.jetpack.php): failed to open stream: No such file or directory in /home4/xxxxxx/public_html/wp-content/plugins/jetpack/load-jetpack.php on line 41

Fatal error: require_once(): Failed opening required ‘/home4/xxxxxx/public_html/wp-content/plugins/jetpack/class.jetpack.php’ (include_path=’.:/opt/cpanel/ea-php74/root/usr/share/pear’) in /home4/xxxxxx/public_html/wp-content/plugins/jetpack/load-jetpack.php on line 41

The page I need help with: [log in to see the link]

  • @jamesprw you are not the only one. Me and another person on here have been chatting on my thread and comparing notes. We both happen to use Bluehost. Tech support there seems to think there’s an issue with the Jetpack script.

Thanks for that – I was starting to think my site was starting to dislike me. Did these issues start recently? I had been running JetPack for sometime and this just appeared.

Issue just started today. Do you use BlueHost?
    @jamesprw

Same issue here. I do use Bluehost — their support says it’s a known JetPack issue, having to do with the newest WordPress update.

    Host Gator.
It sure seems to point to a change by JetPack

I am also using BlueHost, 6 hours ago client website was working fine and then BOOM website down. I read the email early morning. Debugged and found that jetpack is giving the error.

that file class.jackpack.php comes when you install the plugin, but somehow it gets deleted.

I scanned for all the unlink/delete file function in Jetpack plugin but didn’t see any code which might delete that file.

People have commented on my main Open Ticket and so far I have counted 7 people that have similar issues, 6 people use BlueHost and 1 uses HostGator, both are under the parent company of Endurance International Group. As a test, I utilized a site I have on GoDaddy to try and re-create the issue. My Godaddy site did not crash. So it would appear that it is something specifically happening with BlueHost and HostGator.

    Jetpack Mechanic ??

Hey everyone! Sorry you’ve run into issues.

This is happening because the plugin update on your sites did not complete successfully, and some files were not copied properly.

It is not limited to a specific hosting provider.

Could you try to log in to your site via FTP or CPanel, delete the existing Jetpack plugin folder, and then reinstall the plugin from scratch?

You’ll find the Jetpack plugin folder here:

    wp-content
       plugins
         jetpack - DELETE THIS FOLDER

If you’re not sure how to do this, you can ask your hosting company for help. They should also have documentation explaining how to edit or remove files from your site using FTP or a File Manager in your admin panel.

Let us know how it goes.

@peppermintmochapatty I’ll comment on the thread you started here. The additional information you provided there about a file being renamed to quarantine.class.jetpack.php seems to point towards a different issue.

I experienced the same issue yesternite, also using Bluehost.
Site down with fatal Jetpack error as in original post by James.

Reinstallation of Jetpack as per your instructions Jeremy above did not solve the issue.
    Awaiting further instructions…

    Thanks in advance!

In this case you may be running into the issue we’re discussing here:
    https://www.ads-software.com/support/topic/e_compile_error-was-caused-in-line-41/page/2/#post-13314926

Could you comment on that thread with the questions I asked there?

    Thank you.

Is there ANY update on how to fix this mess with jetpack?

    Jetpack Mechanic ??

@mburbage That will depend on what’s causing the issue on your site. I would recommend going through the steps described here first:
    https://www.ads-software.com/support/topic/jetpack-has-broken-my-site-twice/#post-13314862

If that does not help, and if the class.jetpack.php gets deleted again (this has been happening to quite a few folks hosted with Bluehost in the past 10 hours), I’m afraid your only solution is to keep Jetpack deactivated for now. I’m waiting for a reply from Bluehost on this issue, and will update this thread as soon as I have some news.

I am facing the same issue. I use bluehost to host my betterjavacode.

I tried multiple times installing the plugin, even tried installing manually by uploading the folder. But it hasn’t help. The issue appeared again within few minutes.

This is what I am getting when I try to reinstall Jetpack.

The Jetpack server could not communicate with your site’s XML-RPC URL. Please check to make sure https://itsmysideoflife.com/xmlrpc.php?for=jetpack is working properly. It should show ‘XML-RPC server accepts POST requests only.’ on a line by itself when viewed in a browser and should not have any blank lines or extra output anywhere. Find out how to fix this issue here: https://jetpack.com/support/getting-started-with-jetpack/what-do-these-error-messages-mean/blank-lines-xmlrpc/

Yesterday out of the blue jetpack actaully uninstalled from my site ( I did not do it) and asked me to set it up again.

On another site jetpack had to be disabled due to crashing the site.

    Definitely having the same issue!

Has anyone had success using the FTP or cPanel steps @jeherve shared?
