• Dokan Lite and Pro advertises features that generally require other free and paid plugins in order to fulfil them. This means that if there is a problem with an integrated plugin the support flow is more complicated.

At this time there are so many issues of which two are critical to the success of all eCommerce stores let alone multi-vendor stores: shipping and payments via PayPal and Stripe Connect Direct Charges. There are more alarming issues for both Lite and Pro that don’t happen to all users but they do happen (plugin related), and too many to list.

These issues are weeks and months old now and only the tip of it. The latter has left me and others (we Dokaneers talk to each other) unable to grow our stores with confidence and, professionally embarrassed.

Important that you know shipping *wildcards are hit and miss, you cannot ship by weight at this time and, a number of sites’s vendors can’t add more than one extra shipping zone in their dashboards. A recent update caused ALL SHIPPING OPTIONS ON ALL SITES WORLDWIDE TO DISAPPEAR COMPLETELY! So testing before updates are released is obviously not thorough.

If you are not a WordPress and Woocommerce intermediate user at the very least, you will have a difficult time. Even seasoned WordPress users are finding the support situation unbearable and blaming it on Covid is not a good enough answer any longer.

Dokan could be a fantastic plugin but I and many others have experienced their band aid style support which they say is due to global response. They say they are overwhelmed yet still market it heavily as though nothing is amiss. The way they deal with support tickets is drip feed. You submit one and normally DAYS later get told to disable plugins and purge caches, the usual fixes. Be sure to outline in your tickets what you have already done or it will be 10 days or more before you realise it. Many users have to flag their ticket has not been dealt with on their facebook group to get it noticed.

Often they will login to your site and fix something which is marvellous, until you apply the latest update and often the fix is overwritten so back to the support merry go round. I really hope Dokan will read all this before others write more reviews that are far less charming than mine.

I find it sad and regrettable to have to put in this abysmal review but feel strongly to warn others of the many pit falls and issues Dokan has at this time. Wait a few months and they will hopefully have fixed critical bugs.

  • Hello @pvwebdev,

Please accept my apology for the trouble which you had to face when you are using the Dokan plugin. I agree that there was an issue with Shipping but that was occurring for a few specific websites and we have a quick fix for that already. If you have created a support ticket in our paid forums then let me know the ticket ID or you can send an email so that I can apply a fix to your website.

Also, regarding Stripe – Dokan Stripe connect is fully SCA ready but when we made it SCA ready stripe did not allow us to use Direct Charges API for a multivendor platform with SCA for that reason, we had to use Transfer method where still the vendor get their money directly to their stripe but via admin account.

The current version of Dokan Stripe Connect is working fine but it is not working as you are expecting with Direct charges due to a limitation which we have already promised to change. I might need to correct that this might be an improvement (not a bug) with the Stripe API which has been done already and a new release will come very soon.

Our team is working with all the major issues and improvement and they are working really hard to fix all these issues.

However, thanks for all the feedback on our plugin and our team noted all the important points from your feedback and hopefully, very soon a stable version will be released.

    Thanks.
