I can’t get my FB app ID to save in Social Yoast SEO – it says it doesn’t exist. I have confirmed that is live and activevia FB developer, and I checked with my WP host and they directed me to Yoast support forums.
Here’s the message I get when I try to save it:

XXXXXX does not seem to be a valid Facebook App ID. Please correct.

When I try to add any post in FB for social sharing it just shows a picture and description rather than the featured image and excerpt designated in the WP blog post.

    Hi,

If you’d like to learn more about the Facebook App ID, you can check out this article — https://yoast.com/help/warning-fb-app-id-hasnt-been-included-in-the-meta-tags/

Please do note that this doesn’t affect the social preview of your posts or pages, and will still output with the open graph tags.

We understand you aren’t getting the appropriate social preview when sharing a post to Facebook. Could you please check this article and advise if you have the correct open graph tags and provide us with a sample URL? — https://yoast.com/help/facebook-sharing-updated-details/

Here’s a sample URL: https://www.cocktailcontessa.com/7-fun-and-easy-mint-julep-recipes/ the picture is correct, but the description is the one for the whole webpage, not just that page.

It has a warning at the top that Missing Properties
The following required properties are missing: fb:app_id
But it is there, and it’s listed as live in FB Debugger.

I rescraped the page, and the same still happens, there are at least 2 raw tags with og:description and it uses the one that is setup for default for the website instead of the one for the specific page.

I’m trying to find a help email address for FB developer, but all I see are places to put in bugs. I sent a request in to a general notification but haven’t heard back yet.

    thank you, — heather

@hmwibbs We ?reviewed your page and found that there are duplicate Open Graph tags contained in your page’s source code. One of the sets of Open Graph metadata is being output by the Yoast SEO plugin, and the other set is being output by either another plugins or possibly your theme. This is causing a conflict as there are duplicate sets of meta tags for Facebook which have conflicting settings, which is causing Facebook to not display the preview for your page correctly.
    ?
??In order to resolve this we would recommend reviewing your other plugins/themes settings and disabling their Open Graph output so as to remove the additional set of Open Graph tags. If you are unsure which plugin is causing the additional set of Open Graph tags to be output we would recommend performing a conflict check and disabling other plugins and then reviewing your page’s source code to check whether the other Open Graph tags have been removed. We also have additional information on how to check for a conflict here: https://kb.yoast.com/kb/how-to-check-for-plugin-conflicts/. ?Can you confirm you have performed a complete plugin/theme conflict check by disabling other plugins, and resetting the theme to a default such as twentyseventeen?
    ?
?After resolving the additional set of Open Graph tags, we would next recommend checking your page’s link using Facebook’s Sharing Debugger tool located at https://developers.facebook.com/tools/debug/sharing/. To force Facebook to update it’s cache for your page’s preview on Facebook, you would need to enter the page’s URL into the Facebook Sharing Debugger, and under ‘When and how we last scraped the URL’ clicking the ‘Scrape Again’ option. The ‘Scrape Again’ option will force Facebook to update it’s cache for your page’s link. Please note that to successfully update the cache it may require re-scraping your page several times as whether the page’s data can be read may take several requests between Facebook and the server your website is hosted on. Also, this guide includes more information on this and explains in detail how to do this: https://kb.yoast.com/kb/facebook-sharing-updated-details/
