Cannot update because of .ea-php-cli.cache

Hello,
I cannot update MailPoet because it bails out on the file .ea-php-cli.cache.
Error message is :

La mise à jour ne peut pas être installée parce que nous n’allons pas pouvoir copier certains fichiers. Ce problème est généralement d? à des incohérences dans les permissions de fichiers. .ea-php-cli.cache

Actually, the .ea-php-cli.cache file is a symlink that is, apparently, intentionally broken (see https://docs.cpanel.net/ea4/php/easyapache4-and-the-ea-php-cli-package/ “The ea-php-cli cache symlink”)

I suspect the MailPoet package is having issues with the unexpected symlink in its own directory ? All my other plugins seem to update blissfully.

Now, I can successfully update MailPoet IF I first delete the .ea-php-cli.cache symlink. But it would be much easier if the update would happen seamlessly. I am open for suggestions !
