no this is not related to the plugin.

Well maybe in the sense that the size of the zip-file is too large for your WordPress to handle, in terms that a HTTP connection times out.

Very likely you are having trouble updating WordPress or other larger plugins, too.

I advise to simply install it manually, as described here: https://www.ads-software.com/extend/plugins/wp-table-reloaded/installation/

You are correct, Tobias – I always need to upgrade WordPress manually. What causes this? Is it my web host?

That’s is possible. Unfortunately I’m not an expert in this. You should make sure that you are using relatively new versions of PHP (i.e. PHP 5.3) and other server software. I advise to ask this question in a different section of this forum though, as there are more people to help you, I guess. For example here: https://www.ads-software.com/support/forum/3
