• Arghhh . . . I am starting to wonder what I have gotten myself into. I decided to switch from my old microblog to WordPress and it has been one headache after another. The 5 minute install took hours. Finally got it installed and working. Today, I changed my theme and now I cannot do anything! All I did was choose one of the featured themes. Now, if I try to log in I get:

Parse error: syntax error, unexpected ‘)’, expecting ‘(‘ in /homepages/40/d231101531/htdocs/ibraryguy/wp-content/themes/producer/functions.php on line 9

    Can anyone please help???

  • Can you access your wp-content/themes/ folder via FTP or cpanel? Just rename the producer theme folder to something like producer-out. The WordPress default theme will automatically kick in.

The producer theme is more advanced than other themes and if I remember well, required you to input some information in theme’s options page. Not sure if your inability to log in is because of theme or did you recently install a new plugin as well?

ibraryguy, apologize for not answering sooner, but support for the theme is handled via the theme website so it is always best to post requests for assistance there as it will be seen sooner.

So far this particular problem has been determined to be a PHP version issue. Producer requires at least version 5 of PHP. If you happen to be using at least version 5 then please notify me of this so that I can investigate and add to the compatibility issues list.

In the meantime, to fix the problem, you can either contact me using the contact form on the site so that I can help you resolve it, or as a way of making the theme work so you can then login and switch to a different theme, go into functions.php and comment out lines 7 – 16.

ibraryguy, I have uploaded a modified copy of functions.php. Please download it, unzip functions.zip. It will contain functions.php. Upload this to replace the copy you currently have installed. It should allow you to access your dashboard. Once you access your dashboard you can then activate a different theme and remove Producer since it is not compatible with your current setup.

    Thank you both!

asmedia – I did not know there was a page for the theme. I will check it out. It is a beautiful theme that I do hope to make work some day. I am still a bit of a newbie, so I admittedly know nothing of PHP.
