• I hit install and am taken to a ‘blank’ dashboard page. The new theme is not added to my available themes. Doesn’t seem like the install is going through…why could that be?

  • Typically, a blank screen during/after installation means you didn’t get a complete and intact set of WordPress files uploaded to your host. I’d consider downloading a fresh copy of WordPress from the Download tab at the top of this page, then use something like 7-Zip to extract the files. Then reupload the files to your host. Review Uploading WordPress to a remote host and make sure you are using ASCII transfer mode in your FTP client.

If you have an .htaccess file, that too could be causing the problem–rename that if necessary.

Thanks for the reply. When I was uploading to my FTP, I did get a message that not all the files were transferred (connection was sketchy at times during the upload). Do you think there is a specific file(s) missing that could cause this problem? Then maybe I could find them in my local folder and upload them seperatly?

About the .htaccess file, what would I need to rename that?

You could upload the files separately but there could be more than one.

If you do have an .htaccess rename it to htaccess.hold or delete it.
