I have a prospective client who sells a product online and wants to move from Magento to WooCommerce.

Her business model works where the customer orders the product on their site, then the store needs to get that order from their supplier. Once in-house, then they ship it to the customer.

They do not want the customer’s credit card billed until they ship the product off, so they are looking for a system where they still have the order created, but then be able to bill the credit card later.

I don’t know if there is a way to do that with the gateways/merchant bank and WooCommerce or not. This doesn’t seem like it would be a unique situation. I’ve have been told many times that my credit card wouldn’t be billed until backordered items are shipped.

Maybe I be overthinking this? I would think it would have to be some setting in the payment gateway plugin.

Thanks for any direction you can give me.

    Bryan

    Hello there,
This is definitely normal and possible with several payment gateways.

The first that comes to mind is Stripe: https://woocommerce.com/products/stripe/

You can choose to charge the customer immediately and capture their payment, or only authorize it and capture it manually later.

Other gateways have this as well.
