I have been running SM 2.15 for a long time with WP 5.4 and the GeneratePress theme with no problems.

I have been holding off upgrading to SM 2.16 becuase of all the problems people have been reporting here.

However, yesterday I upgraded the site to WP 5.5.1 and I am now unable to post new sermons!

Existing sermons look OK (I had to disable the theme compatibility check box that I had for some reason had ticked), and I can edit existing sermons with no problems.

But if I try to create a new sermon, everything is very wierd.

There is no description field, or precher, topic, series, bible book etc. in the side bar, but worse, the only option (insted of publish) is “submit for review”. Pressing this, or “save draft” just says “sorry you are not allowed to edit this post.”

There is also a yellow bar below the title which says “You are currently editing the page that shows your latest posts.” with “permalink ?preview=true” above it.

All very strange. Looking in the screen options, all the tick boxes for Preacher, series etc. are missing.

I tried upgrading to SM 2.16.2 in the hope this would fix the problems with WP 5.5.1, but it is no different.

In my sandbox system I am still running WP 5.4 with the generatepress theme and SM 2.16.1 and that is working just fine.

So the problem seems to be with WP 5.5.1, the generate press theme and ANY version of SM.

I am at a loss to know how to proceed. I don’t really want to have to revert back to WP 5.4, but I now can’t publish next Sunday’s sermon.

    HELP!

Oh, one thing I forgot to mention. I am still running SM PRO Version 1.0.0-beta.13.

I believe there is a newer version but I’m reluctant to update in case it makes things worse! But it doesn’t offer an update version, so I guess I would have to do it manually, and I’m not sure where to find that.

I have been able to develop a temporary work around to the problem of not being able to publish new sermons, by taking a very old sermon and editting that with the new details, changing publication date etc. etc. This SEEMS to work OK, but it is not a long term solution obviously.

@mikeshand We are aware of the issue we’ve released a fixed version for this but unfortunately we can only priorities the pro version for now. Please rollback to WP 5.4 and 2.16.1 we are going to fix this in the next release of Sermon Manager for WordPress.

If you don’t want to rollback you can check out our Sermon Manager Pro 2.0.5 visit us here https://sermonmanager.pro/ If this will not work we will gladly return your money.

    That’s good to hear.

I have been a lifetime sermons pro subscriber since its introduction, so I don’t need to join again (I hope) but I can’t see how to upgrade to the latest version of pro. The beta I am running doesn’t list it as available and I can’t find a download link anywhere. So how do I get hold of it?

    Thanks.

I’ve now managed to to download pro 2.0.5 and that has indeed fixed my problem. Thanks.
