    Hi, @celebtemple.

Please let me know if that happens only with the external featured images provided by this plugin or if that happens with regular featured images from your media library as well.

I really need you to check that.

Its the same take look now on Facebook. What should I do? Can you help me?

    Thread Starter templederr

    (@celebtemple)

No, I can’t stop FIFU to generate image even when I select the default image and check “ignore Content URL.”

    Thanks, @celebtemple.

I just checked and that’s not a WordPress problem or a plugin problem, but an old Facebook limitation. This is what the Facebook documentation says:

Non-open Graph Stories images appear in a rectangular format. You should use a 1.91:1 image ratio, such as 600x314px.

    https://developers.facebook.com/docs/sharing/best-practices#images

Facebook is not expecting vertical, but horizontal images.

So unfortunately ONLY Facebook can help you. If you contact them, please let me know the answer.

    Hi, @celebtemple.

I can’t stop FIFU to generate image even when I select the default image and check “ignore Content URL.”

Please let me know how you are creating your posts. Manually or using something else?

    Thread Starter templederr

    (@celebtemple)

Manually, except I don’t select the featured image, that FIFU automatically selects the first image from the post.

    Plugin Author Marcel

    (@marceljm)

    Thanks.

“ignore Content URL” won’t remove the image. It was already saved.
    You should:
    1) check “ignore Content URL”
    2) click on “remove external featured image”
    3) update
    4) select an image from your media library
    5) make sure “ignore Content URL” is still checked
    6) update.

BUT, if you are just trying to make a Facebook test using a featured image from the media library, I recommend you to create a new post. That’s because Facebook caches the first sharing. So it would be necessary to access Facebook and clean the cache. Too complicated for a single test. So just create a new post with an internal featured image and empty content, publish and share. That’s the best way.

    (@celebtemple)

I did that, and it is the same. Take a look now at the site and Facebook.

    Thread Starter templederr

    (@celebtemple)

It’s clear now that is not FIFU, but what could cause this?

    Good job, @celebtemple.

It’s clear now that is not FIFU, but what could cause this?

I explained that in my second answer. Facebook is causing this. Please take a look again.

And if you Google it, you will see there are a lot of people sharing the same pain:

    Hi again, @celebtemple.

I just had an idea. FIFU is now integrated with Jetpack and it would allow FIFU to crop the images. So it may be theoretically possible to send cropped images to Facebook.

Cons: requires Jetpack plugin and I can’t promise it will be a free feature.
Pros: it would be possible to send cropped images to the social medias, respecting the required dimensions.

I’ll make some tests next week and then I inform you if it’s possible to implement that.

    Thread Starter templederr

    (@celebtemple)

Ok, thanks. I don’t use Jetpack, I have only a few plugins installed, but any help is welcome.

    Hi, @celebtemple.

How do you share images on Facebook? I mean, do you access Facebook and paste the post link there? Or do you use a plugin that gives you a share button?

    Thread Starter templederr

    (@celebtemple)

    Hi Marcel,

Yes, I share directly from the Facebook page by pasting the link and am wait for Facebook to fetch content. I’m using sharing buttons on-site but only for Pinterest.

    Hi, @celebtemple.

I accessed your Facebook. I’m seeing the first post (Sarah) has problems. There is a cropped image above the text. We don’t see Sarah’s face, right?
    https://www.facebook.com/IMGTrendOfficial

Then I tried to reproduce the problem in my Facebook. But I couldn’t.

    First, accessed this link:
    https://imgtrend.com/sarah-jessica-parker-looking-chic-as-she-works-in-her-sjp-
    shoe-store/

Then I clicked on the Facebook share button and shared the post on my Facebook. Facebook shows the whole image on the left and the text on the right. It’s a different format!

Then I tried again pasting the post link directly in the Facebook and I had the same result: the whole image on the left and the text on the right. No problems at all.

Since we are having different results, I need you send me the detailed steps to reproduce the issue. With screenshots, please.
